Temple Run: The Idol Game is a casual game where you relive all the danger, non-stop action and thrills of the original Temple Run from a wholly renewed perspective. Things have changed, and you're no longer directly controlling your adventurers' every move. Instead, it's your decision-making process that makes the real difference. It's up to you to manage each of your pawns strategically. Surprisingly enough, what we're really looking at is an incremental game that maintains increasingly elaborate gameplay throughout (without ever missing a comedic beat) -- distancing itself largely from the original genre that made this saga a household name.
Remarkably, in Temple Run: The Idol Game you will still need to overcome all kinds of obstacles to reach the end of each screen. But this time around you won't have to simply move between lanes. Rather, your character has a health bar that goes down every time they encounter a trap, when it reaches 0 -- it's game over. Whenever you survive long enough, you earn gold that you can invest to strengthen the resistance of each of your pieces and from there make it out alive throughout all the levels.
In fact, getting gold can be done in three different ways: every time you avoid an obstacle, whenever you reach the end of the level or seemingly at random, periodically. The latter is what is most advantageous, since the more you invest in your characters, the more coins you get as payback. Buy new characters when you have enough gold and strategically place them together with their stronger counterparts to reinforce your efforts.
Temple Run: The Idol Game is a fun game that takes the famous endless runner franchise to a whole other genre -- and a whole other level. A tongue-in-cheek idle title with a heavy-handed dose of humor, zany cartoon graphics and a huge cast of characters to discover and strategize with.
